Please be polite. Jim Zimmerman 1615 2nd Ave, Scottsbluff, NE 69361
Juliette and her twin sister, Jaelyn, were born to proud parents on November 2, 2005, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Even at birth, the two girls had a connection that only twin's could understand. Although they both look similar, the two girls had very different personalities. Juliette was a more out-going child, while Jaelyn was more reserved.
November 2nd 2010 more than two years after Juliette was found beaten to death in her crib, supporters gathered to ask the City of Gering, Nebraska for justice for both Juliette and Jaelyn. The Gering Police Department and Scotts Bluff County Attorney, Doug Warner ignored the public’s pleas to find justice for a child that was taken way too soon.
In April of 2012, Juliette's family made the decision to petition for a grand jury investigation into Juliette's homicide. The petition would require nearly 1,000 signatures of registered voters of Scotts Bluff County who agreed that the case should be investigated by a grand jury. On May 18th they began collecting those signatures and on Juliette’s 4th angelversary, July 11, 2012, of her murder, members of Juliette's family and local petitioners and angels turned in a total of 1,754 signatures to the Scotts Bluff County District Clerk of Courts.
On January 7, 2013 Juliette's family and angels learned that the grand jury had convened. Such wonderful news! On January 11, 2013, exactly 4 1/2 years since Juliette's murder, family and supporters learned that the grand jury had finished their work. Monday January 14, 2013 two indictments were officially filed against two of the three adults in the home at the time of Juliette's death. Indictments were filed for Charyse’s former boyfriend, Dustin Chauncey and the mother, Charyse Geurts.
Dustin Chauncey is charged with child abuse resulting in death, involuntary manslaughter, and furnishing false material to authorities to impede a criminal investigation and faces life in prison.
Charyse Geurts is charged with being an accessory to a felony and also furnishing false materials to authorities to impede a criminal investigation and faces a maximum sentence of six years in prison.
Family and supporters now wait for the arrest warrants to be issued and for the arrests to be made for the charges in the indictments. In the mean time, Dustin Chauncey was sentenced on January 18, 2013, to 48 months in prison for crimes he committed in Colorado and won't be free on the streets to harm anyone else.
Colorado- Dustin Chauncey following charges;
1. Possession of class 1 controlled substance "Meth"
2. Possession of a dangerous weapon.
3. Possession of deadly weapon.
4. Defacing a "firearm"
5. Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
On July 11th, 2013 will mark 5 long years since Juliette Serenity Geurts died from multiple blunt force trauma to the abdomen and head in Gering, Nebraska. No child in America should be beaten to death only to be forgotten. You can help! "Like" Juliette's facebook page and share Juliette's story with your family and friends.
Juliette deserves justice for the abuse and neglect she suffered and no one should be allowed to walk away from murdering a child like nothing ever happened... It is time the authorities do their jobs to investigate and uncover the truth. Now is the time for those responsible to be held accountable for Juliette's murder because “Juliette’s precious life had meaning and was worth something!”
